For example, if you were to say to a person from Chile that Haitians are eating cats in Springfield, Ohio, they’d find it unsurprising as it happens there too. This, as it goes against the confirmation bias of the people in the US, is considered preposterous there. Trying to contradict confirmation bias will result in very negative, and often nasty responses.
